Mission: It aims to nurture design professionals who have a Human-Environment-Centered Design [HECD], an inclusive approach while designing and developing products, services, systems, spaces, or experiences.


The School is situated in the newly built East Delhi Campus, of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University [GGSIPU], Delhi. It would be A unique institution to provide Design Education, rooted in values, that responds to social context, improves the quality of life, and prepares thought leaders to address emerging global needs

The University School of Design and Innovation, for the academic year 2022 -23, has planned for three programs at the Bachelors’ level namely – Industrial Design, Interaction Design, and Interior Design. The two programs at the Masters’ level are Industrial Design and Interior Design. The Bachelors of Design Courses are full-time undergraduate four-year programs and the Masters of Design are full-time graduate two-year programs. The four-year intensive program will include academic and “real-time” exposure along with site visits, case studies, educational trips providing hands-on experience to the students.

Industrial Design: more commonly referred to as Product design; bridges the gap between what is and what’s possible. Industrial Design is a strategic problem-solving process that drives innovation leading to a better quality of life through innovative products, systems, services, and experiences. It is a trans-disciplinary profession that harnesses creativity to resolve problems and co-create solutions. The course aims to inculcate a systematic methodology for designing products and services that can be used by a significant number of people. The aspirants would aim to link innovation technology, research, business, and customers to provide new value and competitive advantage across economic, social, and environmental spheres.

Interaction Design: more commonly referred to as Communication design has evolved as a real game-changer and is among the core skills to develop in the 21st century. An Interaction Designer’s role in the industry would encompass the creation of a unique visual language along with leading the strategic communications to establish a company/corporate/brand/ product’s message to the respective target audience. The Interaction Design course at USDI would prepare young designers as responsive and strategic visual design subject leaders. This course includes the development of novel strategies to express information through a broad spectrum of fields, such as branding, advertising, web interface design, and allied solutions to crafting an effective user interface [UI] and user experience [UX].

Interior Design: more referred to the designing of spaces. Designing and managing the built environment in an inclusive way is essential if we are to create a fair society and a sustainable future. The course aims to prepare students for a creative and professional career in the area of interior design, across commercial, residential, retail design, exhibition, installation, and the creation of places of leisure, culture, and social exchange. The course covers a complex mix of technical design skills, combined with a contemporary approach, learning how to create a story evoking both style and mood creating an ‘identity’ of the given space, taking on-board demands of physical wellbeing, and performance needs of the space in question.
